A brilliant take on take-out

Local is the new global, and this holds especially true in hotel trends. Next-gen, tech-infused travelers search for local, authentic experiences, and the industry is stepping up to the challenge. Boutique hotel brand Hyatt Centric’s U.S. partnership with innovative food delivery service company GrubHub is a perfect example.

Piloted in April 2016, the innovative program reinvents traditional room service by allowing guests the ability to discover the best local cuisines by choosing from restaurants handselected by hotel staff, and having it delivered directly to their hotel room. The program is part of the Hyatt Centric brand’s Restaurant To Go dining program, which gives take-out a twist by offering guests multiple eat-in options, including in-room delivery from the hotel’s onsite restaurants, as well as 24/7 Express Menus that offer dishes guaranteed to be ready in 20 minutes or less.

A recent decision to expand this partnership from three to nine properties was based on overwhelmingly positive guest feedback on a pilot program introduced last year. Guests at participating Hyatt Centric hotels across the country can now conveniently order room service from local restaurants by using one of several options:

  • a customized landing page found through the dining tab on the hotel’s website
  • the website URL found in guestroom compendiums
  • on the keycard inserts provided at check-in

“We decided to work with Grubhub because we know the Hyatt Centric guest wants a choice in dining options, especially when it comes to experiencing local cuisine,” said Sandra Cordova Micek, senior vice president of Hyatt global brands, in a press release. “Based on the successes of the pilot, the decision to expand the relationship will allow for more guests to explore their destinations with added convenience and ease while staying in the middle of the action."

  • South Beach Miami, Florida.*
  • Park City, Utah*
  • Times Square New York, New York.
  • Chicago Magnificent Mile, Illinois.
  • Fisherman's Wharf San Francisco, California.
  • The French Quarter New Orleans, Louisiana.
  • Arlington, Virginia.
  • The Woodlands (near Houston, Texas)

Grubhub currently works with with more than 55,000 restaurant partners in over 1,200 U.S. cities and London. The Grubhub portfolio of brands includes Grubhub, Seamless, AllMenus, and MenuPages.
