Malibu Beach Inn, luxury beachfront hotel located directly on Carbon Beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean, has been named to the highly-coveted Conde Nast Traveler 2018 Gold List as a "Favorite Beach Resort Close (Enough) to Home."
The annual Gold List is compiled of Conde Nast Traveler editors' favorite hotels in the world, spanning six continents and 54 countries.
According to Conde Nast Traveler, "This is our list of the best hotels in the world, the ones we keep coming back to time and again. It's our love letter to the hotels that make us feel sexier, smarter, flirtier...that make us walk with a little more swagger and remind us who we want to be and how we want to live. They're the hotels we return to time and time again, and daydream about long after we're home. They're the best in the world."
After its sale to Mani Brothers Real Estate group over two years ago, the property has been transformed both physically, by world renowned designer Waldo Fernandez, and stylistically by Gregory Day, President of Hospitality for Mani Brothers who also serves as the property's general manager. Fernandez re-envisioned everything including all public areas, the interior and exterior of the onsite restaurant, CBC, and each of the 47 ocean-front guestrooms. Each guestroom now offers custom furniture designed by Fernandez along with European Oak flooring, raw rift White Oak paneling, crisp white walls, contemporary lighting, and soft, luxurious natural fiber fabrics sourced from Bellino in Italy.
"We are truly proud to have been chosen by the Conde Nast Traveler editorial team as a Gold List honoree, one of the highest distinctions in the hospitality industry," Day said. "From the beginning, the hospitality division of Mani Brothers was always to represent the finest in quality and service, and our team in Malibu has worked tirelessly to transform Malibu Beach Inn into an intimate luxury destination. This accolade celebrates all we have done to make the hotel one of the best in the world."
Since Day's appointment in September 2015, he has worked to bring the quality of service and offerings at Malibu Beach Inn to a next level. Staff uniforms were replaced with designs by local brand-partner Johnnie-O, while beach attendants are now appointed in popular athleisure brand lululemon athletica. Guests can enjoy the lost art-form of chocolates at turndown from world-renowned chocolatier Vosges; another unique partnership sourced by Day.
The luxury property's restaurant, CBC (Carbon Beach Club), offers the finest quality, locally sourced ingredients along with an impressive wine collection, which has been a recipient of the 2016 and 2017 Wine Spectator Award. The property was accepted into the Leading Hotels of the World in 2017 and was included on Conde Nast Traveler's 2017 Hot List, as well as being a recipient of the magazine's 2016 and 2017 Readers Choice Awards, where the property currently serves as the #16 ranked hotel in Southern California.
